Use something easier to swaddle your baby July 27, 2010 MJ (Nashville, TN) Our baby won't sleep without being swaddled. She is now 5 months old. We have used everything out there, and this was our least favorite. After spending so much on it, I was disappointed that we only used it when every other swaddler we had was dirty.
Here's what I don't like:
1. It takes so long to get on. With a squirmy baby, she'll be out of it before you get done wrapping. It's really hard to wrap under the baby, and tuck here and there.
2. I don't like having her arms straight down where she can't move them at all. In the womb, she could move her arms.
3. The way the pouch is made, one side is lower than the other. She gets her leg out of the lower side consistently.
Our favorite swaddler by far is the Woombie. All you do is zip it up and snap the top, and you're done! And the baby can still move her arms and put them by her chest or whereever she wants, but it is tight enough that her hands can't bother her, and it is escape-proof. She can even suck on her fingers a bit through the fabric of the Woombie, which allows her to calm herself. This swaddler didn't even come close to the convenience and functionality of the Woombie. Unfortunately, the Woombie is almost as expensive as this. You could try the Swaddlepod first, which is similar to a Woombie but cheaper. I don't like it quite as much as the Woombie, but since it is only $10, it is worth a try.
Too many steps & dangerous July 5, 2010 M. Hseu I read all the good reviews and bought this miracle blanket for my 8 weeks baby. It was too many steps to swaddle the baby, and almost impossible to swaddle a cranky baby. My daughter did like it once she was swaddled, but in the morning when she was crying & kicking, the longer side of the wrap was wrapped around her neck, and her legs were already out. Dangerous!! I don't know why others like it so much, but it did not work for me.
Wonderful Swaddle Blanket June 20, 2010 My2Babies My newborn son is apparently Houdini in disguise, because he was able to wiggle out of every swaddle blanket we had used for my daughter (who is now 2.) I had heard about the Miracle Blanket and was desperate to try something that would work. It is wonderful! The interior flaps keep his arms inside the blanket but it does not seem to be super constrictive. You can swaddle as tightly as you want, although the instructions stress that you need to pull the blanket into a very tight swaddle--otherwise you will have loose fabric everywhere and that is extremely unsafe. But for the interior arm flaps, you can leave them a tiny bit looser if you want.
He doesn't much like the process of being swaddled in the blanket but goes to sleep immediately afterward and stays asleep for a big chunk of time.
I haven't been able to fold up the foot pocket for a tighter swaddle like the instructions recommend for the smaller, younger babies but that hasn't been much of a problem. Only twice has my son been able to kick his leg free and I'm sure that was my fault for not pulling the fabric tight enough. Overall it is a great product and I highly recommend it.
Great Swaddler Blanket! May 19, 2010 Ashley Tindle (Southeast Kansas) I ordered this swaddler because it states that it can be used from newborn on. I have yet to use it on a newborn, I'm still preggo. However, I did babysit a 2 month old for a friend and used this blanket and he loved it. She had told me he didn't like to be swaddled but in this blanket he slept soundly and did not fuss. I purchased other swaddler blankets for my daughter that used velcro to secure and I was not fond of the sizing or the velcro. With this blanket, gravity, and baby weight is secure mechanism. I would recommend this blanket to any parents. Can't wait to get daily use out of it!
Wonderful! May 9, 2010 Marida C. Salinas (San Antonio, TX) After struggling to find a way to keep our baby girl swaddled, we were ready to give up. My husband even purchased some material to have his mother make some receiving blankets that were large enough to properly swaddle our newborn, since no store-bought blankets were near large enough. We tried the swaddle me blanket, but it is much too large for a newborn, and she would get her arms free almost immediately. After reading the reviews for this blanket, I kicked myself for not trying it first. We used it every night till our baby girl was 3 months old, and she was sleeping though the night consistently at 6 weeks!
