A Serious Hazard!!! Causes Neck Injury and Suffocation!!! August 11, 2010 Melanie Moore Like the other reviewer said, this product should be recalled and taken off the market immediately! My 6 week baby used it twice and it was hazardous both times in two different ways. 1). The first night, I put the positioner in the bassinet and tucked a light blanket under either side of it, so the blanket wouldn't move up to her face. Well, she ended up sliding down it getting tangled up under the blanket. Had I not checked on her when I did, she would have suffocated! She wasn't crying or anything, I just happened to check on her then. Very scary! I knew not to put a blanket in there, but I thought it would be safe tucked under the positioner, I did not anticipate my baby to slide down it. 2). The second night, I put the positioner in the center of my bed next to me with no blanket. This time was even more dangerous because she scooted her way up to the top of the positioner and almost had her head hanging off the top (this would've happened in a crib or bed). Fortunately, I happened to wake up in time to see this. She wasn't crying or anything, I just happened to wake up and check on her then...all it takes is a second for something to happen no matter how many times you check on your baby. The positioner is great in concept, BUT babies (even newborns) move, wiggle, slide down it, and scoot up it, making it a very DANGEROUS product.
Got An Active Sleeper? She/He Will Slide! August 10, 2010 Christine M. Tynes (Virginia Beach, VA) My daughter luckily did not have any acid reflux issues, but I purchased this sleeper thinking that it would be a more comfortable surface for her to lay on rather than her hard mattress or the board in her bassinet. She used it for 5 weeks and slid down to the bottom so that only her head was laying on the positioner every single night... and several times a night at that. My child is an active sleeper -- -- meaning that she kicks, wiggles and flails her arms while sleeping. She even does this while swaddled so this positioner was not as useful for us as I would have hoped.
Maybe it will work for you, but if you have an active sleeper just know that you will be getting up at least 2-3 times per night to re-adjust your child.
Very much helped my daughter July 5, 2010 Jesse A. Peterson My daughter has a tendency to puke if she eats a lot of milk and then lies too flat on her back.
I bought this at Target and it helped immensely. I give it 4 stars because it is not the easiest to clean. Everything else about it is great.
Actually, I put a book under the head area so that it is at more of an incline. Other than that, perfect, and I am buying another one as we speak from Amazon.
Could have caused a serious injury or lack of oxygen to my daughters brain!! July 5, 2010 mommaT 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this product not because my cdaughter had reflux but I just thought it would be a more comfortable sleep position. We began using it when she was about 2 weeks old. After a few days of use we layed my daughter down to sleep and she just wouldnt stop crying- which is normal for a newborn and we usually would pick her right up but our friends and family said we were spoiling her and to let her cry a few minutes to see if she will just fall asleep. So hesiantly and painfully we did just that. After a few minutes i couldnt stand hearing her cry any longer. I went to the crib and at 3 weeks old she had pushed herself up the wedge and her little neck and head was hanging off!!!! I just began crying I was so scared and felt so bad. This product coul dhave caused a serious injury or lack of oxygen to the brain if I had not gotten to her within a few minutes..It should be taken off the market immediately!!!!
Worked for us! June 28, 2010 Amy Tavormina 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My pediatrician stated that my daughter should sleep on an incline in order to prevent choking and help guard against SIDS. Bought this inclined positioner for use in her bassinet. Worked great! She did do some sliding down in it, so halfway through the night I did have to slide her back up because I thought the positioner pushing against her armpits looked uncomfortable. But other then that, I really liked it. I would recommend it to friends, and I will use it for any other babies I have. But, I do recommend checking on your baby throughout the night - which pretty much all parents do anyway!
